I'm too sexy for my knees

Today I'm not going to blog about rehearsal. Nor how I spent most of it knitting a sock. (Fyi, I'm so tired I just typed cosk instead of sock.) I had previously knitted the ribbing (just twelve rows...) and then when we left the theater several hours later I had turned the heel and started the gusset decreases.

Today, I'm going to show you something.

That little bruise right there on my knee (See it?) is the most painful bruise I've had in a long time. I can't bend my knee without it hurting! I just got it today during dance class when we were doing a really cool floorwork dance. But I went down wrong at one point and BANG.
"Oooooooowfuckooooooooow!" was kind of what I sounded like.
Anyway, I am going to bed now. Night all.

On/Off Switch

You know, today wasn't awful. Despite the amount of time I spend complaining about being busy, being stressed, being blah... My life doesn't suck.

-----

Today I had a rehearsal.

A very long rehearsal. A rehearsal that lasted the entire school day. We left the school at 8:30 and we arrived back at school at 3:00.

The hardest part of this rehearsal wasn't the acting. That probably went the smoothest it's gone in a while. No, the hardest part of the rehearsal was the fact that I had to be "Turned On" all the time. No, I don't mean it like that. I mean that even when I wasn't on stage I had to brightly smile at people, laugh, chat, and shush the loud freshmen boys. I had to project myself into any conversation, I had to make an effort to not just stare off into space and think for a while... There is no 'Off' button when it comes to rehearsals like these. Having been 'On' all day, I am very tired. You know those days when it's just too much effort to even appear like you care about anything happening around you? Now, alone in my room and winding down, I kind of feel like that. I just got out of the shower and am rocking the towel turban, too. (It must be genetic. Mom can totally rock the towel turban.)

Well, we open on Friday night. Wish me a broken leg, will you? Tomorrow I need to remember to bring things to entertain myself. Unfortunately one of those things is my AP Gov't study guide... because I would like to pass my AP test next monday. Gack.

Come to think of it, wish me a broken leg on Monday morning. I'll be driven to the hospital and (Oh no!) miss my test.

...Uh wow

So I've been sending out emails to people overseas to let them know that I'll be traveling in Europe this summer. The response has been overwhelming. I've heard back from people in seven countries.

SEVEN.

And while I've been sitting here in shock, I've realized how much travel time I'll be doing. And then looking at my yarn drawer and going,

Hmm... That's a lot of socks... I could totally knit that many socks in two months... I'll be, you know, on a lot of trains.

That's a good reason to, you know, stock up on some more sock yarn. They're portable, light, and don't require any crazy patterns. I know how to cast on, turn a heel, AND graft a toe or two. So if anyone wants to make an anonymous (or not so anonymous... I'm not picky) yarn donation to my Traveling in Europe stock, I would totally knit you some socks.

-----

In other news, I was sitting downstairs on the couch reading a book and up jumped Topher the chihuahua. He just sat there and stared at me and made the adorable little "I can't contain myself I'm just so cute" cooing noises that he is just so good at. And then he put his paw on my leg and tried to climb into my lap and then decided against it... until he just couldn't bear it any more. That little chihuahua jumped into (and out of) my lap so many times I just laughed when he finally situated himself on my boobs. Apparently they make a fantastic shelf on which to sit and survey the area.

-----

Tomorrow my tech rehearsal will be happening during the day. The junior ring ceremony is tomorrow night and there are so many juniors in the play that they wouldn't be able to attend rehearsal anyway. So we leave the school at 8:30 and will be back at school by the end of the school day. That, in my opinion, quite rocks. It's getting out of school with an excused absense! This calls for some knitting...

Uneventful!!!

This hasn't been a very interesting or exciting weekend.

I feel bad about blogging, because the most out of the ordinary part of my weekend was waking up this morning at 6:30 because there was an awful hail storm outside just pounding on my window. I did the whole roll over and shove a pillow over my head thing... Which didn't really help.

What else about this weekend...

I bought yummy English chocolate. I bought some cotton yarn for a beach bag I'm knitting. I went to a 5-hour Tech rehearsal (thus starts 'hell week'.) I bought a new bra (!!!!!). I knitted an ankle sock on Friday night. I bought a watch. I ate a mussel (It was weird!! All squishy... but I was at dads and I felt like I should instead of flat out refusing.)

Yep. That just about sums up my weekend.

Happy Birthday Bill

Yesterday I went with some of my school's Shakespeare Club (which I am the secretary of, actually) to a celebration of William Shakespeare's 444th Birthday. He couldn't be there. Apparently he had struck stage gold and was busily writing away at his next hit play. We all ate cake anyway!

There was dancing.

And merriment. (Well. For some.)

And acting. (We watched a rehearsal for their upcoming show of Much Ado About Nothing. As a club we'll go see that on May 9th. I'm excited. I do love shakespeare, but I love it even more when it's free.)

And, of course, general tomfoolery. What would a birthday party be without tomfoolery?!

Just to let you know

Today

-I still felt terrible...
-So I stayed home and took a lot of 20 minute naps.
-I watched all three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. :)
-I knitted about 5 inches of my clapotis. She's about 60% done now.
-I'm feeling better at the mo, though a little unstable.
-I only had water, a cherry coke, crackers, jello, and a potato today. I'm not hungry, but I need to eat.

Well, that's all I really can report. Tomorrow is school again. Sigh. I'm off to bed.

Forgive me for being blunt

But today is one of those days when you swallow so much snot that you just feel like crap.

Last week I had this awful cold. I thought it was allergies, but living in Austin, there's not really any way to tell, unless you actually remember to check webmd for the symptoms because you forget every other time that you read up on it. And my throat is kind of scratchy when I breathe, so I keep sucking on cough drops, which don't taste very good when you feel like crap to begin with.

So I'm going to keep this blog short and tell you that my plan for purging myself of the last remnants of this cold include:

1) Advair. Lots of it. (This is an asthma medication. It helps be breathe AND sleep... because I can breathe.)
2) Romance novel. (I will, however, skip out on the chocolate. See the "I feel like crap" segment above.)
3) Knitting. (My knitting group meets tonight. I look forward to it every week.)
4) Some sort of cough/cold medicine that I'm sure we're out of in the medicine cabinet downstairs. (Mother.)

Saturday... what a day...

Today is Saturday. Today has been a long day.

It started at 6:15. Well, it started buzzing and beeping at me at 6:15, but in reality, today really started around 7:05 when I finally couldn't ignore that incessant noise any longer.

Today is (well, was) one of Macy's notorious One Day Sales. Everything is super-sale price and the customers just swarm in droves over to the store. Have I ever mentioned that I work at the largest Macy's in town?

We had 4 entire rolling racks filled with clothes. I was thinking of photographing it and posting it on here, but then I didn't have any time to spare for such amusement. I ended up being the personal slave, ahem, personal shopper for some californian woman who expected me at her every beck and call. I suffered it for a while, but when she told me to run all the way up to petites upstairs, I told her firmly that I had to actually work, and that I had many other things to do as well as fetch things for her. That quietened her. Mostly. When I told her that my shift was over, she gave me a dirty look.

Other than that, the day passed mostly uneventfully. Around 10:45, I stood at my register for about an hour and a half until I escaped to my lunch break twenty minutes late. And after my break I didn't really go back to the register except for about an hour. The rest of the time I was trying to reign in the massive amounts of putback clothing that seemed to just pile up. Ah, well.

I got off at 4, grabbed myself a super energy boosted Jamba Juice, soaked two skeins of yarn in water and vinegar and sat outside for a few hours reading a book. It was so pretty today. Perfect in every way. I dyed the yarn (One a combo of Purple, yellow, and green, the other blue, yellow, and green. They turned out completely lovely.), moved my arse off the deck and into the hammock. The wonderful thing is I just sat outside in the wonderful weather until I simply could not see well enough to read any longer. I'm thinking that I will stick my spiffy new UTSA sweatshirt on and go back outside with a light... I'm not very happy inside right now. But except for this afternoon, when I was simply seething from all of the clothes left on the floor in the fitting rooms, today wrapped up really well. I'm extremely content.

I took some pictures of the UTSA campus that I figured yall would want to see. I can't tell you how good it feels to have committed to a school. Although I keep having a mini-freak-out every once and a while... Something along the lines of 'Oh my God, what have I done! What if I chose the wrong school!!' and then reason kicks in, saying 'Stop that, you loved it.'

With that said, here are the pictures I took. (I would like to point out what a lovely day it was. As opposed to the weather at the other 4 colleges that I visited. It rained at every college visit I made. Or it snowed. I think we all remember that escapade.)

In lieu of a picture of my mother asleep on a college visit, here is the back of her head. :D

Prom Hangover

I have a prom hangover. This is not to be confused with any sort of alcoholic hangover, however. It's a "I stayed up until 5:45 in the morning taking care of drunk people" hangover.

Which is probably just as bad as a real hangover. To tell the truth (without sounding all 'holier-than-thou') I wouldn't know.

Yesterday was prom. It was awesome. I had a really good time, felt gorgeous, (looked gorgeous too!) and danced the night away. My friends and I all went to the Botanical Gardens and took pictures, and then we went and ate dinner, and then we drove around for about an hour just having fun. Prom being, well, prom, my friends broke out the Grey Goose the moment they could roll up the little privacy screen in the limo right after dinner. We decided, after dinner, that a trip to Target and Amy's Ice Cream was in order, and so we stopped at Target to get little glow stick things. And then we went on our merry way to the actual dance.

It was fun. We danced, we dipped things into the chocolate fountain, we hugged each other and told each other how much we liked their dresses (when half the time I honestly thought "I would never be caught dead in that ugly thing." Oh well. To each her own.)

People scattered the moment they could. Right after they announced Prom Court, the ballroom emptied. I went with Brandy and Alec to go pick up Randi at Brandy's house so that we could all go to Jennifer's party. It took us about two hours to get to Brandy's house, get Randi ready (she had just stepped out of the shower when we got there) and to drive all the way out to the middle of nowhere, where Jennifer lives. Perfect for a party, right? By the time we got there, around 1:30 in the morning, people were already completely smashed.

I've never been to a party before, and never really had a chance to test myself and see if I can stand up to the infamous alcohol and drugs peer pressure that they threaten you with in Middle School and High School counseling sessions and retreats. It turns out that I can have a pretty level head while being bombarded with second hand smoke and drunk people. I'm proud of myself. However, as fun as it was to be sober and laugh at all the drunk people, it became a lot less fun when people started being sick. Yuck.

So I played Mommy to the drunk people, made sure that they were lying down somewhere, drinking water, not making out with anyone they would regret making out with, and calming down the depressed drunks. There were a few of those.

And finally, oh blissfully finally, I was able to crash on the couch. At 5:45 in the morning.

...I woke up at 8:18. When the now hungover people were making noise.

And from there, mom came and picked me up, made me french toast (mmm...) and I went upstairs, took a shower, and had every intention of lying down, finishing my book, and then writing my English paper. I ended up lying down, reading my book, and then falling asleep until mom called me at about 5:30 to say "Are you still asleep?!"

And now, I am fully in the throes of a Prom Night Hangover. I'm still exhausted. I think I could have easily slept until tomorrow morning. But alas,

I have to write that damned English Paper.

Damn.

Ten things about today:

1) Played hookie. (I demand my senior skip day!)

2) Played with yarn (Bought the yarn, too!)

4) It was a gorgeous day today! Seriously wonderful Texas springtime weather.

5) Slept late (See "Senior Skip Day")

6) CO a new pair of socks for Kerry-Lynn.

7) Painted my nails for prom tomorrow!

8) Took a nap. (YESSS!!)

9) Lazily read for about two hours this morning.

10) Worked this evening.

Many of you wonder why I babysit so often. Right now, I am going to reveal my amazing technique. Ladies and Gents, take notes.

Ooh, check it out!

I'm mentioned on someone else's blog!

http://sallycomesunraveled.blogspot.com/2008/04/ginormous-knitting.html

It's a picture of me trying to knit with the ginormous knitting needles. Oodles of fun. After a while, I just stuck my leg up on the edge of one of the shelves ballet style and balanced one needle on that and the other on the floor. Tee hee hee. Sounds just like me, doesn't it?

Blogging, the ADD edition

Warning: this blog goes where my mind goes. This shouldn't worry you, but it might.

I have some new additions to my stash.

Malabrigo lace, the flavor "lettuce".

And Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock, flavor "Watercolor"

And my Clapotis is coming along well. Didn't knit at all this weekend, but I did work on it tonight at the knitting group I go to, as well as at school a few times. It's coming along very well. I'm still in love, however, a few other projects are just as tempting. Such as some Fetching gloves for Kim and those Chocolate Cherry socks that I started like 3 weeks ago.

Something that's been bugging me today is my foot. I've mentioned it before, but not for a while. I have a hairline fracture in my right foot, up near my big toe. I was wearing new shoes today, so the fracture was acting up. Grrr. Had to wrap it when I got home because I couldn't walk properly.

On another even more random note, I'm still in love with my guitar. Multiple times last week and over the last few months, I've been playing my guitar in the middle of the night. Just picking it up and strumming a few chords, humming a bit, putting it down and going to sleep. I have the same impulses to play the piano in the middle of the night, but I never get to act on those impulses. I love my guitar.

I've decided that I will revoke my love of springtime. The weather and the green is fabulous. However, springtime allergies are so terrible, I just have to devote an entire paragraph to how much I hate today and the allergies associated with it. I walked over to the gym today and sneezed about six times in a row. I wore a red shirt to dance class today and I looked in the mirror and realized that I'd blown my nose so many times up to that point that my nose matched my shirt. And then after dance class I had to walk back and eat lunch outside. Yuck. God, if you're listening? Please remove the allergies. Everything else is fine.

Duncan just came into my room and said to tell you, the general blogging public, that he "got to level 375 skinning and leather working in World of Warcraft. And that's epic." and I would like to add that he's now shaking his booty to the music I'm playing on my now completely functioning iTunes. (w00t)

Don't want to jinx it

But my iTunes is finally working.

FINALLY.

It hasn't worked since January. Sigh. I can't tell you how frustrating it's been for the last several months. I've gotten so much new music and none of it has been on my iPod. I thrive off of my music. I want it with me all the time, darn you!

Well, the college decision process goes on. And on. Every day I see something different in the opportunities between the two schools. Every day I meet someone, talk to someone, or find a new opinion about each college. This is tough.

(iTunes hasn't frozen yet...)

Prom accesories shopping tomorrow. Woo!!

Erhm...

Countdown time!

Days until prom: 6

Days until You Can't Take It With You: 27
Days until my last piano performance: 28
Days until graduation: 55
Topher time! (that dog is so spoiled.)

iTunes isn't frozen yet. In fact, it's playing "Under the Sea" on shuffle... so I'm thrilled. I <3>

A song?! Hark!!

Don't know if you guys know this or not, but I sing. All the time. Mom and Duncan can attest to this.

I've been learning how to play my guitar, and I figure that recording myself and possibly embarassing myself on my blog is the best way to go about improving. So if I upload a song in 3 or 4 months' time and it still sucks, well. Then you have every reason to say "Stefanie. Get on the ball and learn something better!"

I'm thinking that after I upload this, when I have a moment I'm going to have to upload me playing something good on the piano.

So without further ado! "Like Blood, Like Honey" by Holly Brook. Butchered, ahem, sung by Stefanie for the purposes of her blog.

...So it's like magic to you guys, who can just make the music happen. But I have to make it download first. And upload. And put it into the blog. Which is difficult when you can't feel the tips of your fingers on your left hand. I practiced for about an hour before recording (and I still messed up and everything. >.< ) and so I'm very tired right now. While I'm waiting for the song to effing work, why don't you read these interesting facts!

-I have 2 months left until I graduate!
-I have a week and a half until prom! -I have a sore toe! -I love my Clapotis shawl-y scarf-y thing!
-I can't feel the fingers on my left hand! (This bears mentioning again.) -I am typing while lying down right now, not looking at the screen! -I'm almost done learning Rondo Alla Turca for my spring piano concert. Which if I'm lucky, mom will video so I can share it with my favorite blog readers!
-I swallowed a bug today!
-I just lied! =)
-I read my first-ever eBook today. Gena Showalter's The Darkest Fire, which is a 66 page prequel to her newest series. I'm a total addict to her work, so I was excited to find it. It was weird reading it on my computer, but not really. The story was iffy (I mean, how in depth can you get in 66 pages? And it was just a prequel) and I feel like everything happened too fast and it left me thinking, "What did I just spend the last 45 minutes of my life doing?" but I guess it'll make sense sometime in the future.

Okay, now it'll go. I ended up making it into a movie file, without actually being a movie... if that makes sense. So it'll just be a youtube attachment. And it will be good! Good, I tell you!

Here. It. Is. (Well finally.)
